Winter settles in this weekend, so it's time to check smoke alarms to make sure they're installed properly and working.
It's easy to do: just press the test button on the alarm cover (if you can't reach it, use a broom handle). Batteries should be replaced once a year and the alarm itself must comply with Australian Standard AS 3786-1993.
